Urban Infrastructure and Housing

The Ministry of Public Works, Reconstruction, and Housing is overseeing the Nagaad Project, which aims to modernize Kismayo’s infrastructure and housing systems. The project focuses on expanding the road network to improve connectivity both within the city and with surrounding areas. Upgraded drainage systems are also being developed to manage stormwater effectively and reduce the risk of urban flooding.

A critical component of the project is the construction of permanent shelters for internally displaced persons (IDPs), providing secure and dignified housing to vulnerable communities affected by conflict and displacement.
