Kismayo is divided into several neighbourhoods, each with unique characteristics:
- Bar Alen: A central area near the city cemetery, currently under urban review.
- Bula-Haji: A growing residential district with new infrastructure.
- Bula Bartire: Known for ongoing sanitation upgrades.
- Istanbul: A vibrant area with youth development programs.
- Eljale 1 & 2: Suburbs benefiting from new water supply systems.
- New Gobweyn: A zone planned for future urban expansion.
Kismayo City Municipality is dedicated to planning and implementing development initiatives that promote economic growth, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and citizen participation.
